Are you passionate about making a difference for students in your Faculty? This is your chance to lead, influence, and create change! 

There are Undergraduate and Postgraduate Research roles available. 

Postgraduate Taught Faculty Representative roles will be recruited in Sep 2026.

    What is a Faculty Rep? 

    As a Faculty Representative, you'll: 

    • Be the voice of students in your Faculty, collaborating with School and Course Representatives to enhance the educational experience. 
    • Shape university policies by participating in Faculty-level committees, School meetings, and Students’ Union Council, as well as the University’s Academic Board. 
    • Make student life better by influencing key decisions and leading campaigns that directly impact the student community. 
    • Ensure Student Voices are heard at Students’ Union Council and Executive Management Committees.  

    You’ll have support every step of the way, with a dedicated staff team to guide you through the election process and help you excel in the role.

  • What to Know
    • This is a voluntary, part-time, unpaid position. You must be willing to commit time to the role in addition to your other commitments.
    • To run for election in as a Faculty Rep, you must be a student from that faculty and be a registered student of the University for the duration of the election period.
    • The term runs from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027.
    • The level of time commitment required can vary throughout the academic year, but a minimum of four hours per week is expected. Many duties can be done flexibly, outside of training and official meetings. 
    • Introductory training will take place in May 2026, with further training taking place in summer 2026, based on the availability of successful candidates.

    Gain hands-on leadership experience, advocating for students, influencing senior decision-makers, and shaping the academic experience at Queen’s. 

    Develops communication, teamwork, and negotiation skills – you’ll also be eligible for a QUB Future Ready Award.

    Meet loads of new people, not only students from your Faculty, but Reps from across the University, and staff too.   

    Be part of a greater student voice if you choose by working with national student unions to drive change on a larger scale.

    It’s rewarding. Students will look to you for help with their issues and you’ll advocate on their behalf.

      • Improving the quality of course content and teaching 
      • Working with lecturers to improve the format of assessment and feedback

      • Organising School feedback sessions to engage other students 
      • Organising events with other student reps 
      • Working with lecturers to improve the format of assessment and feedback 
      • Helping signpost students to important support services

  • Available Roles

    There is one Undergraduate School Representative and one Postgraduate Research School Representative in each of the fifteen Schools in Queen’s.

    Each Faculty Representative role is recruited self-nomination and election.

  • How to Stand for Election

    1. Nominate yourself here between Wed 17 December and Thu 22 January. 

    2. Submit your Manifesto by Mon 9 Feb @12 noon.
