Welfare
Jess Hindley (She/Her)
I’m Jess, your Student Officer for Welfare. I studied an MA in Conflict Transformation and Social Justice here at Queen's.
My background is mostly in student housing activism, and I have also been actively involved with the abortion rights movement here in Belfast. As your Welfare Officer I have been leading the university’s drug and alcohol harm reduction programme for the past year which will positively transform our approach to student substance use.
The role of a welfare officer is broad, including housing, safety, and wellbeing. I will continue to bring my experience fighting for students to this role so that I can lead impactful campaigns on issues that matter to you.
My top three priorities for the year are:
- Drug and Alcohol Harm Reduction
- Fighting for Student Renters
- Student Safety
